Oral Presentation 1

Lesson 6 was the start of the groups oral presentation. The three groups that presented today touched on the following topics:

1) Gujarat & Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) 2) Arid Communities and Technologies (ACT) & Khamir Foundation 3) Hunnarshala Foundation

Saza and Leon presented on the first topic on Gujarat and SEWA, giving us a brief history and overview of Gujarat and how SEWA helps the women in India.

Heng Yong and I presented on the second topic on ACT and Khamir Foundation. We touched on the issues faced by the people in Bhuj and how the two organizations help improve the lives of the people.

Lastly, Amirah and Hannah talked about the Hunnarshala Foundation. Through different activities planned by them, the idea of what the organisation does is shared with the class, while also allowing us to have a small but more meaningful understanding of the situation over in India.

The presentation were all made with great effort and the ideas were shared with clarity. Through the sharing by our fellow classmates, we are able to better grasp the concepts of what we have studied as compared to just reading our assigned readings. In doing so, we can see how the concepts we have studied come alive when we go to India in December.
